The PÚBLICO and the Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia (CIES-Iscte) are organizing the second edition of the Disinformation and Democracy conference, dedicated to the analysis of polarization and the dissemination of false narratives in the public sphere, to be held on 28 January 2026. Under the theme “Polarization and False Narratives”, the event will bring together researchers and experts to discuss the impacts of disinformation on contemporary democracy.

The topics under discussion form part of a broader collaboration between the two institutions, developed through the Upstream project. This initiative focuses on the monitoring, analysis, and dissemination of disinformative narratives prior to their large-scale spread and is funded by the European Media and Information Fund.
