Sónia Bernardo Correia and Ana Caetano, researchers at CIES-Iscte, have been honoured as sociologists of the month. Their article, ‘What is left unsaid: Omissions in biographical narratives’, published in the journal Current Sociology, was selected for the shortlist of the third edition of the annual SAGE Current Sociology Best Paper Prize (Volume 72).
In this paper, the authors analyse the role of omissions in biographical narratives, demonstrating how what is silenced or left unsaid can be just as significant as what is explicitly reported. By problematising the ‘unspoken’, the researchers make a significant contribution to the critical understanding of memory, identity and social representation.
The article is available in open access and can be consulted in full here.
CIES congratulates the researchers on this achievement.
