Message from the Coordinator

“The comparative study of the interrelationships between societies and political systems, as well as the interrelationships between different states, is fundamental not only for understanding but also for transforming the contemporary world.”

This training, which lasts four academic years, combined with the agreements established with various public and private organizations for internships, means that future doctors have good job prospects.

The curricular part is concentrated in the two semesters of the first year of the course. The following three years are essentially dedicated to the thesis, with several seminars on various theoretical and methodological subjects. A cycle of international conferences will be organized each year, in conjunction with the other doctoral courses at the School of Sociology and Public Policy.

The teaching staff has extensive experience in the fields of scientific research associated with the doctorate, as evidenced by the publications, participation in conferences and participation in research networks, both national and international, of the professors/researchers involved. They also have extensive teaching experience in the main areas of the course, namely Political Science (PS) and International Relations (IR).

OBJECTIVES

1. The ability to systematically understand the scientific field of political science
2. Have competencies, skills and research methods associated with political science
3. Have the ability to conceive, design and carry out original research of scientific quality
4. Be able to critically evaluate, analyze and synthesize new and complex ideas
5. Be able to communicate with their scientific peers and the community and publish their scientific work
6. Be able to contribute, in an academic and professional context, to social progress and the well-being of populations
